Cobalt Bikes builds custom carbon bikes for those who love to ride, know what they want in a bike, and appreciate quality at a reasonable price. Cobalt Bikes is a Veteran-owned small business, and we capture and honor our military heritage by naming our bikes after World War II aircraft. Founder Mike Trumpfheller is passionate about bikes and has lived the biking lifestyle for more than 40 years across tens of thousands of miles on road, mountain, gravel, and cyclocross bikes across the globe. We want to bring these experiences and our expertise to you by providing quality products, expert advice, and an excellent customer experience.

Cobalt Bikes Mission

Build, ride, inspire is a philosophy that drives the Cobalt Bike lifestyle and brand. Mike, our founder, and Chief Bike Architect, is an ardent cyclist and outdoor adventurer, and Cobalt Bikes designs and builds are extensions of this passion, his aesthetic, technical expertise, and personality. He continues to build an intimate, curated community of riders who inspire each other and envision new possibilities and challenges. Our mission is to build custom bikes that bring each rider a unique and personalized experience that inspires them to get out and ride, do big things, and contribute to the cycling community. 

For 40 years I have been fortunate to bike in a variety of places around the globe, from mountain biking in New Zealand, gravel rides in Afghanistan, epic jungle rides across Costa Rica, multi-day bike packing in the U.S.—and there is much more ahead! Along the way I have enriched my experiences riding custom bikes that I’ve designed and built to suit my goals for the next adventure. 

And now I’ve brought this experience and passion to Cobalt Bikes, which offers a line of custom bike builds so you can have your own epic experiences, on your own terms, on a bike built just for you.
